Derek JeterThere is no doubt that the illustrious career of Derek Jeter will finally end when he enters the hallowed halls of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. His on the field and clutch performance speak volumes but there was much more. Derek Jeter was a positive role model in an era where countless athletes took the low road. In the steroid and social media era when professional athletes step on their toes, he was clean. He did all this playing under the big lights of New York City. Derek Jeter’s career moments cannot be understated.

He spent 20 years in New York exemplifying the true teammate mentality whether playing through pain, saying the right thing in the media or being the first on the top of the dugout steps to console or cheer on a teammate. Jeter will be remembered as one of the best short stops in baseball and greatest players in Yankees history.

He will be mentioned alongside other Yankee greats like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Mickey Mantle. In short, Jeter had one heck of a career as a Bronx Bomber. I took on an overwhelming task of trying to pick out the 10 greatest Derek Jeter’s career moments. Feel free to vote at the end of the presentation, there are no wrong answers.

The career of Derek Jeter began on April 2, 1996 when he made his first Opening Day start. A glimmer of the man that would come to be known as “The Captain” was seen that day. He found a way to capture the moment by hitting his first career home run. Classic Jeter to say the least.
