The timing for when Fowler should be ready sits well for the situations of Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner. Defensively he has more than enough speed to roam center field for years to come. His glove is average but his ability to get under the ball masks some of the glove concerns. He finds the ball well and is aggressive to the right spot. Like many young players, he will have to polish his defense a bit if he plans to take center by storm.
Offensively, Fowler was a slash and smack type of hitter but he has turned that corner. Some project him for power but that is just not what I have seen. He is not a power guy and projects more with gap power. That is not bad but when I project power it is not 20-25 home runs and that is where I think he will sit. He is a contact hitter which should transfer to a .300 average at the big show. His speed in center also displays on the bases with 30-40 stolen base potential. He might even get a slight power uptick with the short left field porch at Yankee Stadium. He is still a bit inpatient and still needs to find love with taking a walk or his OBP will never be where it should be. He is young with time so patience is key.
