Projected 2017 Yankees Lineup, Predictions

YANKEE STADIUM SIGNWe are almost at the point where pitchers and catchers report. I cannot begin to tell you how excited that makes me and the legions of baseball fans around the globe. Yankees Nation is due to see a number of changes this season compared to seasons past. The projected 2017 Yankees lineup will not be the same as seasons past. Many of the big time names are retired, traded away, or flat out released. In are some new names that bring with them the burden of where the pinstripes and the pressure of playing in one of the biggest and most fickle markets in the United States.

The winds of change are here and it is the beginning of the future in New York. Of course when you look at a projected 2017 Yankees lineup there are some new to New York but not the majors players in play here as well. Matt Holiday was signed to a one year deal to serve as the everyday designated hitter with the occasional glove time. Chris Carter was just added as a power bat off the bench and possibly a play at first base depending on Greg Bird and Tyler Austin.

There is also the ever declining health and playability of the likes of Jacoby Ellsbury. Who knows what you are going to get with him even when healthy at this point. It is true he played in 148 games last year but those were littered with .263, nine home runs, and steal numbers that continue to decline. It is just reality and proof that Father Time will remain unbeaten and he chooses when to impact a player’s career. I hope the best for Ellsbury but my hopes have long since gone.

Let’s take a look at the projected 2017 Yankees lineup and break each spot down just a bit. Of course Spring Training play, injury, and any matter of item can shift this projection at any time but for now I feel good about projecting this as the Opening Day starting lineup.
